Chilean Cruise: The Fjords of Patagonia
Boutique & River Cruises
Trip Overview:
Discover the incredible history of Chile’s capital, Santiago, before embarking on an immersive 5-day cruise through the Tierra del Fuego fjords from Patagonia’s Punta Arenas on this unforgettable 11-day South America vacation.
Your adventure begins with a historical tour of Santiago. Make your way from the beautiful Santa Lucia Hill, where Spanish conqueror Pedro de Valdivia founded the city in 1541, before marvelling at the intricate architecture of the Cathedral and National Historic Museum surrounding the Plaza de Armas. Continue to the grand La Moneda government palace before exploring the artistic legacy of all pre-Columbian people of America at the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art.
Venture beyond the city to the Casablanca Valley and enjoy a delicious and scenic tour of Chile’s most excellent wine-making region. Begin at the William Cole Vineyard before continuing through the valley to the neighbouring Viñamar Vineyard for a full day of immersive wine tastings showcasing Chile’s best sparkling wine, chardonnay, merlot, and many more grape vines.
Travel south to Punta Arenas and uncover the history of Chile’s southernmost region at the Maggiorino Borgatello Museum and the Nao Victoria Museum before departing on your cruise through the Tierra del Fuego fjords. Set sail to one of the world’s most remote corners and cross the Strait of Magellan into a labyrinth of channels carving out Patagonia’s southern extreme. Highlights of the cruise include an onshore wildlife excursion at Ainsworth Bay, zodiac excursions through the wildlife-rich Tucker Islets, a hike along Pia Glacier, and an excursion of the historic Wilaia Bay and Cape Horn before arriving in Ushuaia.
